چکیده
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by reduction in the density and quality of bone leading to weakness skeleton associated increased risk fracture [1]. The most common type osteoporosis termed primary includes both postmenopausal age-related osteoporosis, which involves structural deterioration porosity fragility [2] (Figure 1).

Biomechanical Analyses of Snowboard Jump Landings
Snowboard jump landings represent an important topic of study within the area of sports biomechanics. This is due to the high risk nature of this activity and the potential to modify this risk through equipment design and skill development. This paper presents a summary of a comprehensive series of experiments designed to quantify landing biomechanics and the influence of external factors on th...
متن کاملA comparative study of bone mineral density between premenopausal women with hyperthyroidism and healthy premenopausal women.
OBJECTIVE To compare bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine (L1-L4), total hip (TH), and femoral neck (FN) analyzed by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) in premenopausal women with hyperthyroidism and in healthy premenopausal women. MATERIAL AND METHOD Cross-sectional study included 49 premenopausal women with hyperthyroidism and 49 healthy premenopausal women. Age, weight and bo...
متن کاملRisk factors for decreased bone density in premenopausal women.
Osteoporosis is a major health problem. Little is known about the risk factors in premenopause. Sixty 40-50-year old patients with regular menses were studied cross-sectionally. None of the patients were on drugs known to interfere with bone mass. Patients answered a dietary inquiry and had their bone mineral density (BMD) measured. The Z scores were used for the comparisons. A blood sample was...
متن کاملReference intervals for bone turnover markers in Spanish premenopausal women.
BACKGROUND The aims of this study were to establish robust reference intervals and to investigate the factors influencing bone turnover markers (BTMs) in healthy premenopausal Spanish women. METHODS A total of 184 women (35-45 years) from 13 centers in Catalonia were analyzed. Blood and second void urine samples were collected between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. after an overnight fast. Serum procolla...
متن کاملAge at menarche and cortical bone geometry in premenopausal women.
Previous studies have suggested that the timing of puberty might have an impact on the adult skeleton. What composite of bone structure could be affected by the timing of puberty is unknown at present. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between age at menarche and bone cortex geometry at the distal radius. Using peripheral quantitative computed tomography, we determined total area of ...
